A Homeschool Student Part 1

In a past post I have criticized the apathetic home-schooled teenagers, but I guess I should make it known that I was home-schooled for most of my life, too. I guess I just wanted to share my perspective about the stereotypes placed on me as a former home-schooler and how hurtful they are…

Fall came

tore the summer of my innocence away

a flow of energy

 a rush of darkness

bells ringing

halls buzzing

footsteps

voices

pushing

shoving

laughter

The unknown

the fear

held me back

distracted me

their laughing faces

their pointing fingers

“because she was home-schooled-“

“freak show girl”

And so I sit in class

and look outside, longing,

and draw that one barren tree
